Rock and minerals physical properties, including their deformation, elasticity and equation of state under high pressure and high temperature conditions.

Courses

 

Fundamental Rock Physics

 

An overview on the physical properties of rocks, especially locate high pressure and high temperature conditions. Topics include various characters of rocks, such as mechanics, elasticity, calorific, electricity and magnetics.

 

Modern Experimental Analysis Techniques

 

An introduction to basic theories and methods in analysis experiments as well as structures of modern instruments, and application in Earth Sciences. Topics involve atoms and molecular spectrums, advanced synchrotron light and technique in diamond anvil cell.

 

Seminar in Advanced Rock Physics

 

A graduate seminar that discusses recent progression in rock physics, including some famous laboratory in the world, and several focus topics, such as intracrustal seismogenic layer, low velocity layer and water in the Earth interior, carbon cycle, and typical minerals physics.
